Berserk 318 Beastial Warrior

The chapter starts out with Farnesse placing a protective spell upon the ship, when she comes out of the ether she is amazed at the protective Aura that she has placed. This will have been her first use of her powers since entering training with Shierke. Both Shierke and Gutts praise her and she is, as always, very humble about it.

Gutts and Shierke prepare to leave for the Sea God's Lair. Gutts partially transforms in his armor with Shierke on his back. It seems he is able to control it enough to remain sane for the moment. In my personal opinion, he looks a bit like the Batman. As they leave, Isma claims she can hear it again. Whatever "it" is. I assume she means the Sea God.

The chapter ends with Gutts and Shierke entering the Den of the Sea God. All around not a particularly interesting chapter, to be honest, but guess what! There's a short break for Muira to go over manuscripts, and you know what that means...It could be months before another chapter. Thus why I was in no particular rush to post this one up.

Sheesh. He didn't even leave a date. -_-

Berserk Anime Twitter Translations

I have been keeping track of the New Berserk Anime Project's Twitter, mostly it's a whole lot of nothing. Them apologizing for lack of updates, telling about the little commercials, ect. Nothing of Importance to report, except they recently updates saying that January 8th there will be an important announcement. Hopefully a release date! You can be sure I'll be there with my Google Translator and my translator to decode Google translator, lol.

So, until then!

Berserk 317 - Preperation for the Final Battle

The moonlight boy finally makes Gutts see his friends and that he is meant to protect and not hurt them. With a piercing howl he begins to fight the armor, but begins to lose. Shierke jumps onto his back and begins to pull the armor from his head, helping him finally break free.

We see the true form of the moonlight boy, it was the same boy they met awhile back and Shierke notes that they met him at the full moon that time as well. Know that she is now the last person left of the island, Ishidoro begs the Captain to give Isma a ride elsewhere. However, Gutts means to settle his business with the monster here and now on the island.

They return to the ship where preparations for the final battle are made. Shierke is going to project herself as a body of light and go with Gutts, Farnesse is going to have her first attempt at magic and protect the boat.

5 Anime phrases that drive me nuts

5. I want to live in peace with everybody / be everybody's friend

You sir, are living in a fantasy world that not even Naruto could fix with his ability to unite anyone anywhere and at anytime. Perfect peace is a pipe dream of the UN and can never be achieved because of humans and their greed, jealousy, and hatred. Sure, anime is fantasy, but you're reaching.

4. I don't care / Whatever

You do care, you desensitized little prick. I'm looking at you Squall from Final Fantasy 8, even though you are not an anime character. This phrase serves two reasons only, both of them annoying. One, to portray a lead or semi-secondary character as the cold and lonely brooding badass that will collect mass amounts of fangirls. Second,  to portray a brooding badass that will soon make the wrong decision and become the protagonist of the story.

3. I'm going to be the greatest chef / teacher / obscenely high goal

I know this is supposed to encourage us, the viewer, to aim high with our goals in life. But have you ever failed a goal? These characters never do. Shit hurts, man.

2. I'll always be there for you / be your friend / ect

Not always true. Humans are greedy, jealous, hateful, and stubborn. You have a bad fight with your friend and say call him a fat dead cow looking motherfucker, he's not going to be your friend much longer. If you find yourself in substantial debt due to a gambling problem and a small addiction to those anime sex games, let's see how many are there for you now.

1. My heart hurt whenever you are not around / are around / see you.

You know that a sign of heart disease. You need to get that shit checked because it's not the person that's killing you, it's all the McDonalds...

Satoshi Kon's last film back in production

Yume-Miru Kikai, which will be forever known as Satoshi Kon's last film (sadly), was announced to be back in production today. You'll be hard pressed on finding any thing about the story's plot line, but the title translated into "the dreaming machine" so, it should be very Kon-like. However, what man does believe his mind is man enough to take on this last vision of the great director? Yoshimi Itazu. Are you man enough, Yoshimi Itazu? You've worked with Kon on Paranoia Agent, you're famous by your work on Denno Coil, but do you have what it takes? I hope so.

Berserk 316 - Return of the Moonlight Boy

I'll never get over how cool this looks.

Berserk 316 starts off with the villagers-turned-sea monsters crawling up towards Isma, Ishidoro, and Shierke while Gutts is busy cutting, clawing, gnawing, and generally raping his way through a horde of sea monsters. Ishidoro and Shierke make quick work of these monsterized villagers. Afterward Shierke astral projects in an attempt to pull Gutts' consciousness back from his Berserker form, however she is repelled. Meaning that only Gutts can recover himself this time.  Isma claims that even though the village was mean to her she didn't want this for them, so they head back towards the village where the others are watching Gutts do his slaughtering thing.

Casca suddenly runs off, to protect a child from a sea monster, which Gutts then saves her from. The group thinks he regained consciousness because he protected her, but this is not the case. All he sees of his friends is their shadows, he still doesn't recognize any of them. Inside, Gutts still fights the beast to not give in completely but his strength is starting to weaken.

Then the luminescent boy appears and helps Gutts see Casca, helping to pull him back to consciousness. The chapter ends with the boy reaching out to touch Gutts who is still fully controlled by the Berserker armor.

New chapter November 12th. Hopefully, it doesn't take long to translate like this one did. >_>

Legendary anime Gunbuster to get manga

It was announced a few days ago that Gunbuster will be receiving a manga, like most popular animes do. However, they are a little late on the jump here since the anime has been around since the 1980's and has been a classic in the hearts of many. I know that it's literally the only mecha anime that I can stomach.

The manga will appear in the December issue of Young Ace and is drawn by the elusive Kobacha, I say elusive because it's impossible to find his other works.

Togainu No Chi

It has been brought to my attention that the first episode of the new Togainu No Chi anime have presented itself. I've known about it for awhile, I've been a big fan of the violent manga based on the games I'll never get to play because Asians love to horde everything that's good. Damn you!
Anyway, I was talking to an old pal who failed to do some prior research, he seemed quite keen on watching it after seeing the first episode. I just want to let you all know that Togainu No Chi is based on a Boy Love game. There's nothing wrong with that, of course. I now just lay in wait for that poor young man to see what he's watching.

Don't be fooled by the violence, it'll get gayer. Ah, for so many months was the man in above picture on my desktop...The whole "little red riding hood meets Mr. Wolf" thing, you see.

Berserk Promo 5

Young Animal released another promo for the new Berserk anime.

It's only awesome (or even relatively new) content is the fact that it shows the Skull Knight just chillin' on his horse. This tells me it's going to be a bit more canon than the original anime, but does not tell me if it's going to go past the Golden Age arc.

See the other 4 promo videos on young animals' website or on my blog here.

4 Arrested in 3 year old Belgian Death Note Murder Case

I used to run another blog on wordpress back in the day (fuck wordpress), and I wrote an entry about a murder case where Belgian police found a human torso and 2 thighs laying ina park, next to it was a note that said "watashi wa KIRA dess".

Facepalms were had, not just for the blatant mispelling  but for the uber lame Death Note copy cat. Turns out recently the case was solved. This is good, because still today my blog gets some weird ass comments from Kira wanna-be's. Go read that link, you'll lol.

As I was saying, apparently the four people involved got into a fight with the man that was murdered, my guess is he was a shitty Dungeon Master, those piss me off too. Well, regardless, they killed him. From the way the article was written, leaving the mispelled note was just a side thought on their part.

As in, they killed him, cut him up, and then was like "Hey, man. We should totally leave a note like Raito did, that'd be bitchin."

Sounds like it was more premeditated than that. Murders don't usually get spur of the moment awesome ideas like that, I know, I've watched enough Law and Order SVU to know.

Spoiler Alert: Casca Kills Griffith

Ya Rly.
Not really, I bet if you weren't current with the manga you were kind of like "WTF!" face there for a moment, but this is purely speculation and before you sit there and think "Damn your speculation is genius and creative", It's not. I got the idea (and some of the images) from forums or as I like to call them, the Berserk Scholars. These are just my ideas on it.

Anyway, as I was saying. Within Berserk, there lies a possibility, one so completely obscure that it would come off as a better than average twist if it were to come true. The possibility that it will be not Gutts, who has fought and struggled for so long against his fate to get vengeance, but Casca who wore her durp face for over half of the series that struck him down and ended his evil reign of evil terror.

That'd be kind of like a bitch slap in the face to Gutts though.

But throughout Berserk there has been an underlying theme of sexual abuse and the abusees getting justice upon their abusers. You see where I'm going with this.

Gutts gets it straight in the pooper when he was a child because his adoptive mercenary father Gambino sold him off to one of his gay-er mercenary friends. Gutts, of course, counters this by stabbing his ass-rapist in the mouth during a battle. Then continues to lead a life of suffering and various mental instabilities.

Casca almost gets her cherry taken by the rich noble that bought her, almost, but not quite. Not-so-evil Griffith swoops in to save the day and throws her a sword. She stabs him and then the women's empowerment movement happened.

And Griffith, well, he kind of whored himself out to a rich noble for some quick army raising cash.He went on with his aforementioned raised army to defeat his army and killed him as he begged for forgiveness/begged him to be his butt buddy again.

All three main characters took their vengeance on their abusers, but none was more sexual abused than Casca when the newly forms Femto took to raping her in front of Gutts causing her to go crazy and revert back to her childlike ways.

Won't her vengeance be sweet?
Is it not deserved?
Could she kill him?

I guess will have to wait to know. Still, fun speculation.

Vagabond manga to end early next year

Takehiko Inoue's legendary manga about the legendary swordsman Musashi is scheduled to end next year instead of this year. Due to Inoue's health he has not ran a chapter a Vagabond since late July when he released Vagabonds' 300th chapter. No worries a new chapter is coming out soon in September, but it appears he has put himself off schedule.

The Vagabond finale was meant to be this year, but due to the health problem is will now be next year. Since he has only missed two chapters, I reckon it will be early next year.

With the recent death of my idol Satoshi Kon, it leaves me wondering.

Why does everything I love die and/or end?

Drunken Moogle helps me pass the time.

"Remember that time you got really drunk and tried to suck your own dick for like...AN HOUR? This is what you looked like."

The Drunken Moogle
If you are 21, or know someone to buy for you, or have a family with a substantial liquor stash, the Drunken Moogle is like the creme de la creme of ways to pass your time as a video game fan. Liquor with a video game twist just makes you feel more awesome when you are drinking alone in your basement playing final fantasy 10 and feeling slightly like an alcoholic. Has everything from the T-virus (a clear drink with blue liquorish in it that makes it look...ironically like a T-virus vial) to the Fat Man (a fallout 3 themed drink that will probably fuck you up, but also make you barf due to the extensive mixing of lights and darks). Advertises video game themed shot glasses, video game themed drinking games, and does it all while being a fancy pinky-high drunk!

Props to them.

You'd be surprised at the amount of people that google tentacle rape.

So on Blogger there is this nifty statistics thing that lets you see how visitors get to your page, like what they google, what links they follow, where they are from, ect. And since somewhere in my berserk 315 summary thing I mention tentacle rape, you know, because of the tentacles that were EVERYWHERE in that chapter that gets me a lot of hits.

I lol'd but,

Think about it.

Ode to the fallen: Satoshi Kon

He was, and will be, the coolest looking asian man since Mr. Myogi from the Karate Kid.

On August 24th, 2010 pancreatic cancer claimed a legend. Satoshi Kon, one of the most brilliant (read: better than Miyazaki) anime directors and artists that has ever been born. He was my idol, when I was younger I worshiped his work. He was 46... I haven't watched anime since his death, since it will never be the same. I did however find a tweet that I liked saying:

"It's not that anime will never be the same, but now it will always be the same."

Truer words were never spoken. Satoshi Kon personified innovation. His works include Millennium Actress, Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Paprika, and the series Paranoia Agent.

If you have seen all of the above, you will know a Satoshi Kon work, not just by crazy wacked plot lines that stick their dick in your brain and hump it without relenting while simultaneously punching the forth wall in the face, but by the art. The psuedo-realistic, AMAZING, artwork. The artwork that fit perfectly with his storylines, conveying otherwise complex and obscure emotions.

What literally makes losing someone I idolized and obsessed over worse was reading his goodbye message on his blog. A translated version popped up shortly after. I now know why his death hit me as a surprise, he had hidden it. And he knew he was going to die. Do you know how painful that was for him, you will after you read that translated version.

I cried.
For like, a half an hour. I could cry now. I might when I lay to go to sleep.

Why do the good die so young?

RAINBOW: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin - Not moe = Not popular

My favorite of the 2010 Spring anime season was actually not Rainbow, I won't feed you those blatantly lies. But Rainbow WAS one of those animes I would have overlooked had I not been like "Hrm I'mma sample this" one night. Since all episodic anime blogger out there all pretty much do the same series every season, it's hard to find the overlooked gems like this.

Spring 2010 was all about that happy anime, upbeat slice of life harem moe pretty sparkles and unicorns up in that bitch. So for me, a hardcore Seinen fan that feeds off the angst of main characters, Rainbow was a filling meal.

Rainbow is about 6 boys which are imprisoned in a Post-WW2 Japan era. To it's core it's a story about solidarity and sacrifice for your brothers. It's really quite touching. The main characters do go a bit overboard with the sacrificing thing though, to they point where it's not even realistic anymore.

Rainbow is full of flaws, for one they strongly depend on beatings and sexual abuse to cause drama. I'm not kidding, in every episode, I guarantee someone gets hit. But in a season where anime main characters greatest motivator was to lose her virginity or how a man must absolutely pay his debt o he'll comically choke to death, I'll take those flaws. TAKE THEM AND IGNORE THEM.

...Or take those flaws in the ass like this guy did in the first episode.

It's no secret that I'm a complete dick rider on Madhouse when it comes to animation. I think their work is absolutely beautiful...It's not different here. I in particularly like how they represented the bad guys, you could tell who was a bad guy because they were made to look ugly. Scars, misshapen heads, fat creepy fish lips, hitler mustache...Yeah.

In Rainbow, if your a bad guy you are doomed to also be an ugly fellow or madam.

Berserk 315 - Tentacle Rape Time!

The first bit of 315 is Shenanigans. I call it. The Ghost Pirates ghostly pirate ship (of ghosts) appears before Gutts Co. on land. The pirate captain introduces himself as Skeletal Beard, who sort of hints that the Sea God will be coming to kick some ass and chew bubblegum. I reckon it's also stated that he's also all out of bubblegum. Truth be told, I have so little idea of why the sea god is coming because of the god damn pirate talk. It's hard for me to read.

Anyway, Gutts gets mad. Madder. Looks at Caska (who has her 'derp' face on) Maaaaadest. Berserker form and starts chopping some tentacle slug/crab monster things, putting further strain on his already deteriorating body. Schierke is, of course, too far away to be able to stop him now. Leaving things open for someone else to pull him back to himself.

My thoughts? Gutts is acting like a little bitch depending on the armor like that. He was doing fine with demons before it. I understand him needing the power to fight the godhand, but why waste it on these small fries...

Why do you people like K-on!...?

What is the appeal of this? They are cute, I mean, just LOOK at them. But unless you are an expecting mother or a 12 year old girl, these girls are clearly not for you.

It's the music thing, isn't it? You like the music, it soothes you. Coddles you to it's bosom and makes you think the world won't kick you in the nuts every time you turn a corner, yes? Well, then how come BECK never got much hyper when it came out? Not that I WATCHED anime when BECK came out, but you rarely hear anything about it. The music in it is ten times better, and the characters are literally off the cool chart.

The above picture is a completely rational comparison.

Also, the K-on! manga ends in September, or at least THIS PART of the K-on! manga does. The author expressed interest in...Oh God...Making more. I figured instead of just reporting the news, I'd go on a weird rant sort of thing.

Will Berserk Finish Before Muira's Death?

This is a blog named after Berserk, it should have some Berserk related things in it. So I retreat to the timeless debate. Will the epic storyline outlive it's own author who has been at it for over 20 years, only managing to produce 34 volumes and 315 chapters?

Why it takes so long:
Some of this may be speculation

The Art
It's no secret that Berserk has some of the most detailed art in all of Manga. With images like this:

(Resizing this image to fit this blog would have lessened my point, so Link!)

The sheer detail alone in that, not to mention the perspective planning, would take DAYS. Not only that, but weekly manga like Naruto or Bleach only have about 15 pages of almost always subpar art. This has anywhere from 20 to 40 pages. So it takes around a month to three for just one chapter to come out.

Muira's "Breaks"
Muira has been taking a lot of break lately, some of them for his health, which will often stop some of his readers heart for a brief second. That's the last thing you want to hear about a manga author who's series you are so in love with. But then again there is another speculation that he uses the time to, you know, have a life. It's no secret that he is good friends with Buronson and the HunterxHunter mangaka.

Why People Are Scared

Muira at present is around 40 years old, the manga is 20 years old. Muira has stated that he wishes it to be a 100 volume manga. I believe you all see where I am going with this.

If He Does Die

I will be sad, sadder than I was during the last two episodes of Berserk, and I bawled like a baby the first time I watched those. However, there is a speculation that gives me hope. Some people think Muira uses his breaks to write a script for Berserk, so even when he is gone, the story may be continued. Perhaps by another artist, but who am I kidding? It could be drawn by a 5 year old, as long as I get to know the end of the story, I'll be golden.

Actually, I think I would mind if it were drawn by a 5 year old.

I love the art.

Make Ryouichi Ikegami do it.

Launch of the Band of the Hawk blog

Hi there, everybody!

Today marks a momentous occasion, but...not really. The day I launch this blog. Don't be confused by the title, there won't just be Berserk related things here, since the manga-ka will perish to mortality before it comes to it's conclusion. There will be anime articles, video game news and articles, and the occasional comic thing here too (though the only comic I am interested in is The Walking Dead).

I hope this goes well, so far I enjoy Blogger much more than wordpress.
